Carports-Garages Terminology
Door and Window Measurements - All types of doors and windows are all measured as Width is the first number and Height is the second number, ie. 2x3 windows is 2’ wide and 3’ tall
On Center - A measurement taken from the center of one board to the center of the next
Regular Roll Over - Radius bend frame design with the panels installed horizontally. The corrugated ridges in the panel run from front to back or end to end.
BOXED EAVE - (BETTER) (HORIZONTAL METAL) Boxed trim along roof line, 6” overhang on all sides. A-Frame design roof with the panels installed horizontally with the corrugated ridges in the panel running from front to back or end to end.
VERTICAL - (BEST) (VERTICAL METAL A-Frame design roof with the panels installed vertically. The corrugated ridges in the panel run from the ridge cap down the eave side of the building
Hat Channel - Structure to fasten the metal roofing and siding onto the rafters (used as lath)
J Trim - Trim used to clean up along metal edges
Bow/Truss - Galvanized tubing constructed into a roof truss
Lean-to - A roof attached to the side of a structure with a single pitch roof
Base Rails - The bottom plate that legs attach to and is fastened to the foundation
Mobile Home Anchor - has a screw type head that threads into the ground
Concrete Anchor - a wedge anchor that expands into the concrete when tightened
Cupola - Small decorative piece placed on the roof of a gazebo or building
Mobile Home Door/Pebble Door – Economical light aluminum framed fiberglass door
9 – Lite Door – a half glass door with grids in glass making the appearance of 9 windows
6 Panel Door – a solid door (no window) with 6 indentions making the appearance of 6 panels
