Site Preparation & Delivery

Following are some important tips for our customers. This information sheet explains our customer’s responsibilities when planning for and purchasing a new portable building from Mountain Barn Builders, LLC. Please read and feel free to ask questions and talk about your needs. We will be glad to help you with your planning and purchase.

Local: All zoning concerns, local permits and/or subdivision restrictions are the responsibility of the customer. Rules, restrictions, and regulations vary from one location to another. Obtaining permits and knowing and complying with local laws are the customers’ responsibility.

Site Prep: The preparation of the site is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new structure. Whenever possible the site should be flat, level, and well drained.

Most storage buildings are set on flat concrete blocks on the ground and leveled with wood shims. We do not set our buildings more than 24” high at the highest point from the ground due to the instability it could create. We recommend that very large structures be put on a gravel pad or footings. On larger structures used for shops, offices, beauty salons, stores etc. where door and floor alignment are important, concrete strip footings are recommended. Footings need to be level with ground surface because we have to drive the trailer over them. Slight settling may occur after set-up and require adjusting shims if the doors bind.

Delivery: We use a flatbed 1-ton pickup with a 24 ft shed trailer to deliver our portable buildings. It is important that we can physically get to the location that you need us to. We need room to maneuver the truck/trailer as well as clearance from overhead branches and wires. Steep slopes, uneven ground, wet slippery surfaces, and tight clearance at the site cause complications. Please take note of these factors and bring them to our attention so we can provide you with the best possible service and avoid unnecessary charges.

Setup: One hour is included in all setup charges. After one hour of time spent to setup building a fee is applied.
